Large Matchbox Haul

Last week I had way much more time to go hunting. To make it more interesting, it was the start of a new month, meaning more new restocks! It was a nice Monday morning when I entered into KK Toys, and I saw that they had finally restocked with new Matchbox vehicles. I was expecting it to be the Batmobile wave, but instead it was the Evo X/ Subaru Impreza Police car wave.

All cars had base codes E20-E23.

I was quite surprised that this wave would show up here in KK so soon. The Evo X police car is really, really hot here in Malaysia - and there were two units of that on the pegs. I grabbed one and left the other for other collectors to 'savour' it. Overall, all the cars here are really awesome.. am satisfied with the haul. FYI, this wave came with the brown Ford GT, the BMW R1200 RT-P police motorcycle and the Classic Seagrave Fire Engine. Within days, all these good cars have vanished from the pegs!

On Wednesday, I was told that the Signature store had restocked more Hotwheels again, and it happened to be case M. I went there, but only found the blue Civic Si of interest. Little did I expect another Matchbox restock there.. and it was part of the latest wave to hit Malaysia. It was the black BMW Z4 wave!

Base code for Civic is E24, for the MBX is E28.

In the new MBX wave, the purple Land Cruiser FJ40 is just a true beauty.. full of great details! The Chevy Stepside truck was really good too! The black Z4 was no exception.. finally one with great light details and no body tampos. Another satisfying haul..

On a side note, I dropped by 1 Borneo Hypermall for some hunting, but to no avail - there was no new HW stock. However, I did see these nice models from Maisto and Bburago at Parkson. This branch had just restocked too apparently.

Camaro SS, Laguna Seca Boss, and 3 colour variants of the Aventador!

I don't know why but I'm beginning to like these Aventadors by Bburago.. but the price is a bit harsh.

Rare colour.. the pearl yellow.

Arancio Argos shade.. the well known colour for the Aventador.

Lastly I spotted this poor fellow.. its RM 20 cheaper compared to the others.. the left door gone, and there were some stains on the bonnet. Would anyone buy it?

Defective? Or due to mistreatment from irresponsible shoppers?
What a waste of a nice model!

That pretty much wraps up this post. Thanks for your time~

Recent Sightings

There is still no sign of Hotwheels case N for 2012 here in KK. While case N for this year is being distributed in Malaysia, Pacific Ngiukee store took out their old stock on the pegs; it was last year's case N. This is a chance for those who still haven't got their Skyline HT 2000GT-R or the BTTF, plenty of green Brasilia there too.

Lots of old MBX 5-packs too.

Besides that, some random models have been spotted at a toy shop next to Yoyo Cafe in Centre Point.. they also have the monster FJ Cruiser and Audi Q7 from my earlier post!

There's even a 599XX, but the Megane Trophy looks nice!

At KK Toys, more E20 cars are still available there. There's also one HW Boulevard Vector, its been on the pegs for about a week or so.

Case L cars on pegs at KK Toys.

Finally, I went to Parkson Wawasan Plaza. No new HW or MBX, but there is some restock for Bburago's 1:32 Street Fire Collection. Got myself the Police Gallardo!

New assorted Bburago models.

Spotted some nice Maisto models too, didn't get them though..

1:24 Ford Mustang Boss 302

Might get this soon~ reminds me of Bumble bee!

1:18 Camaro SS

A Trade and Monster Truck Buy

There hasn't been much Hotwheels or Matchbox restock these few weeks, but I managed to trade a treasure hunt and one basic HW for this unriveted Megane Trophy. Yes, I do collect error cars.

Unriveted Meganes are somehow common in the E20 wave.
Besides that, while going on my usual hunting rounds yesterday, my sixth sense told me to drop by at Karamunsing Toys. I searched deep in the shop but found nothing of interest. As I was stepping out of the store, I happened to look down in front of the cashier table and saw some monster trucks. But it wasn't really trucks, but it was more to monster Toyota FJ Cruisers and monster Audi Q7s.

The FJ Cruiser came in two colours: yellow and black.

I was really surprised to see these toys.. what more a FJ Cruiser! I checked the price and it cost about RM 15 each (USD 5 each). I grabbed the remaining two FJ Cruisers there. The monster Q7 didn't look that appealing, so I left it there. The body is die cast with openable doors, and the wheels are rubber wheels! The only con about these toys is that there is not much suspension.

Here are more shots of these cute monster FJ Cruisers.. I don't think I would see these anywhere else.
Each are about 8 cm in height.

Rear view.

One reason why it was rather cheap considering its decent quality and appearance, was that it was some sort of imitation product and the manufacturer had not gain permission from Toyota to use the Toyota logo and name. So its just 'Auto' in the place of Toyota, on the front grill:

Front view.

But overall, I'm very happy to have added these two to my die cast collection. Hope to see more such items in the future again!

New Hotwheels - E20 (Case L) Reaches KK

I have been busy these few weeks, but I've still managed to make some time to go for some Hotwheels hunting. Early in the month, the exciting case L with code E20 arrived in my hometown. To be honest, I thought this case would come a little later say in October but it showed up early.

Several stores around KK restocked this wave, and one of the first was the Signature. I did not have the time to take on the site shots, so these are what I bought from there, plus a few I bought online:

E20 cars (case L)

And here are some sightings at Giant City Mall:

D40, D51, E15 restock on September 1st.

And this morning I returned to see this unexpected sight.. I had to rush home and grab my camera for some on the site photos. When I returned, the Evo X and Evo Rally was gone! Wow, Hotwheels is indeed a fast moving item.

E20 restock on September 13th.

Peninsula Malaysia already received their share of case N (E24, E26) recently. Its the Red Bird and Mystery Machine wave! Hopefully it does arrive here in Sabah! Till then, that's it.

Some Purchases From Kuala Lumpur

Last month I headed down to KL for a holiday. I went hunting around most major malls and these are what I managed to get:

The MBX was from Cold Storage, while the Mustang and Buick was from Carrefour; all of which are from Mid Valley. Both Infiniti was from Aeon 1 Utama, and the BMW Z4 was a trade. I was even lucky enough to find myself a copy of the 2012 HW Collector booklet at Metrojaya Mid Valley!

Besides 1/64s, I also went around looking for cars I liked in Maisto's Power Racer line up. I got the green Beetle from Tesco Mutiara Damansara and at the first sight of it, I was amazed. The other 3 are from MJ Mid Valley, priced at RM 22.90 each. It was more expensive I thought, but the items were on 20% discount, so the prices were more or less similar after discounted.

When I arrived back home in KK, a parcel had arrived. I opened it up to find these-
These two models which I found from Lowyat forum was bought from Thailand by the seller. Each came with a rather heavy price tag! But they look fantastic, especially the VW Golf!

More Hotwheels Restocks And Haul (E09 and E13)

This week, I was informed that the only Toys R Us in my city had restocked with the E13 wave, weeks after it restocked with the E09 wave. It was a shocker for me as restocks at this rate never occurred before. True enough, the distant sight of some BMW Z4s, Ferrari Californias and blue Porsche 911 GT2 greeted me as I walked toward the Hotwheels section:

I also managed to find one VW Brasilia with the heat fleet tampo; it looked awesome. There were also 2 Honda S2000s. On a side note, the white Infiniti G37 is released in this wave, but I hardly ever see collectors buying it. Maybe its 'pizza rims' gave it away.

Unfortunately (and as expected), there were no treasure hunts (Ferrari 430 Scuderia) and supers spotted here. There were also no Reventon, Mad Manga and Amazoom and Scion xB at this particular Toys R Us.

Luck was on my side when I found one Reventon left aside at the cashier. So I walked away with 4 new E13 vehicles. Plus the treasure hunt I ordered online with two other basic cars, this is what I have from the E13 wave:

Since there is a Giant just nearby Toys R Us in 1 Borneo, I thought there would be no harm to stop by to check what's hanging on the pegs at the toys section there:

Yet another E09 restock. Plenty of Aston Martins, Subarus, Dodge Viper and C6 Corvettes. Someone helped themselves to the t-hunt Malibu in this wave few days ago, or so I heard. The pegs are loaded with great cars these few days!

Hotwheels E09 Sighting & Haul

This week, my hometown finally got the latest wave of Hotwheels to hit Malaysia. Its the E09 wave - which can be identified easily with the presence of the blue Subaru WRX STI, red Aston Martin One-77, C6 Corvette and Dodge Viper GTS-R. This wave also came with loads more of the silver Aventador and green Aston Martin DBS.

When I was informed of the restock, I immediately rushed over to 1 Borneo Hypermall. Parkson received those new cars first. When I got there, there was a slight despair as the Subaru and Mazda RX-7 has been taken already!

So I just took one of the code cars Shelby and both the Aston Martin One-77. I love the striking red paint!

However, on the next day, I was informed again that the Toys R Us at the very same mall has restocked the very same case or wave too. I had to make yet another 10 km journey just to get the Subaru!

I also got to see a wide array of new cars, they were great:

Lots of the Subaru I wanted too:

8 pieces altogether, I just grabbed one:

Here's a glimpse on the pegs at that TRU:

It was a great week hunting Hotwheels, and now it's time to take a short break once again till the next wave arrives!!

Bburago 1:32 Street Fire Haul, MISC

I went to Servay Penampang to do some household shopping. It is habitual for me that I stop by the toys section to see whether there were any new die cast vehicle models up for takes. There was a small restock for Bburago's 1:32 Street Fire collection. All are 2012 models.

The 2012 vehicles have their 'name tags' inside the box, and the 'stage' is no longer black plastic but made of cardboard. Most of these cars I've seen it a couple of times, but I found two new models I've never come across before.

Its the blue Hummer H3 and also a silver Mercedes Benz E Class Coupe. I couldn't resist the E class as it was a beautifully done model! I took no chances and immediately took these two off the shelf.

You may notice that the cars are priced at RM 10 above retail price; but that is nothing new for Servay. I'd rather sacrifice RM 20 than to never get the chance to see these on for sale in stores anymore.

I also got these two great looking Maisto models from their Custom Shop series. Check out that matte black Audi R8!! Servay also overpriced these..

G Case/ E07 Wave Haul, Bburago Aventador

I dropped by Metrojaya Suria Sabah last week, and I see that they have restocked for Hotwheels. I finally managed to find an orange Evo X and also the Cadillac Cien. This is the G case or E07 wave.

I turned to the back of the cards, and guess what. There is a price increase! Maybe this is the case just for Metrojaya Suria Sabah.

On a side note, I finally managed to buy all 3 variants for the Bburago Street Tuners series' Lamborghini Aventador. There are 3 colour variants to collect, and it just look great! This is the newest models in Bburago's 2012 catalog.

I'll try my best to take these cars out to the outdoors for some photography sessions.

Latest Buys

Hey there fellow bloggers, I finally got this exclusive Kmart variant of Hotwheels 2010 Camaro SS. The colour is stunning satin blue, and I really like it. And upon opening my parcel, I found out that one of them has an error. Obviously a tampo misalignment there, due to low quality control from Hotwheels. But some collectors can agree that this is what makes HW so fun to collect. Here's photos of the must-get variant!

Normal one on the left, error car on the right.

For comparison:

Also, KK finally received new waves for Hotwheels and Matchbox again last week. Its the silver Aventador wave (E07) for HW and E07/E08 for MBX. KK Toys had a fair pick of the new cars.

But no sign of the orange Evo X or blue Cadillac Cien! I wonder were it could have gotten to..

For Matchbox, this wave isn't that interesting, but the Baja Bullet and Triton/L200 are my favourite castings, so I decided to get one each. Along with this MBX wave is the white Dodge Viper with the palm tree tampo, and the white-tyred red Corvette ZR1.

For sure, the Lamborghini Aventador is one of the most hot and popular castings in this G case. Thankfully, Hotwheels made plenty so all collectors had their chance to grab the silver variant. Unlike the more hard to find orange variant, which came in the D44 wave. I heard that some parts of the Klang Valley did not get this wave. I was lucky to stumble on one few months back! :)

In each box of 72 cars, one might be able to find 3-4 silver Aventadors. I found 3 in two seperate places. So don't worry, hopefully there will be many more silver Aventador on the way to KK.

^ A casting too good to resist!!

Hunting Report & Extra Haul

Hi all, today I dropped by City Mall in the morning to see what new cars are up for grabs, since I saw some cases (boxes) were being transported to the store room last Friday. I arrived there with a fresh and nice sight of  newly restocked cars. Its the E03 wave for Hotwheels, and E05 wave for Matchbox.

Hotwheels' E03 wave comes with some hot cars, such as the T-hunt Chevy, Knight Industries Two Thousand (KITT), Ferrari 458 Italia, black BMW M3 GT2, Mustang Boss Laguna Seca in silver, white Dodge Challenger Drift Car and there is also a chance of spotting the blue Camaro ZL1, white Ford Falcon Race Car and purple Megane Trophy in this case. A fellow collector informed me that the particular case carrying these cars had been filtered by staff there, and he could not find any t-hunts.

Matchbox's E05 wave is the 2nd 2012 wave to hit the country. In this wave, one can find the blue Mini Cooper Cabrio, silver Aston Martin DBS Volante, red SWAT truck, silver Dodge Monaco Police car, green Toyota 4 Runner, as well as the gray Volkswagen Saveiro.

Meanwhile, I just decided to take the KITT and a few extras..

Today's Haul And Sighting Report With New MBX Restock

I headed down to KK Toys in the city again today and I decided to buy these 3 this time:
The cute garbage truck from 2010 is aplenty there (3 more left); the City Bus about 2 more there. Unfortunately there wasn't a sight of the 2011 variant of the garbage truck in KK.

I finally got poisoned by the HW Land Cruiser FJ40!

FYI, KK Toys has a huge restock of Tomica cars. I'm not into Tomica so I just looked at what models are on sale, and it is indeed interesting. Too many to list here~

The highlight of today's hunting was this sight:

I think collectors should know where this is. The cars are sold at RM 6.90 each, and since its the school holidays, there is a 10% discount. They deduct 10% off the total cost for the cars you buy, not 10% individually for every car. So if you buy more at one go, you save more too! Most likely they have just put all these cars out from their store room yesterday night or just this morning since the pegs were full!

This is the D25 wave, where most collectors can find the blue Nissan Cube, yellow Mini Cooper and Dodge Challenger with ease. This is my 5th time spotting this wave on the pegs. IMO, the hardest car to find in this wave is the white Mazda 2. In my opinion, other than its tampo, the Mazda 2 is too plain. Plus there is no painted lights; so I left it there. For Hotwheels, there has not been a restock in this store lately.

So if you're still missing cars from this wave, go get it now!

HW Megane Trophy With Ripped Card

I spotted this poor Megane Trophy lying down facing upwards at Giant City Mall last weekend. No one seems to want to buy it due to the torn card. It was lying there for a few weeks, while there was another Megane Trophy there with a perfect card. That one was gone within two weeks, but not this one. This must be a playful kid's job with itchy hands. What would you do if you spot your favorite casting in this condition? Would you buy it too? This one would make a good candidate for uncarding...

I like the combo of purple with yellow rims!
